The Thursday weather forecast for clouds and sun and temperatures reaching the upper 40’s should make for a good cold weather run. Paddle moving water, ripples and easy class 1 rapids past woodland, fields and the occasional rock formation. First club run on the final 2 miles of the trip; flat water through the heart of Brandywine Creek State Park with the tree covered bluffs rising over 100' on both sides of the river. The time on the water including a break for lunch for this 8 mile trip is approximately 4 hours.
Meet at: Brandywine Museum of Art, 1 Hoffmans Mill Road, Chadds Ford, PA Coordinates: 39.871560077921835, -75.59484884304297. Make a right off Hoffmans Mill Road at the Brandywine River Museum sign into the parking lot. Drive straight to the wood picket fence and turn right and park at the end of the lot. We will drop off the boats and leave a participant there to look over them while we shuttle our cars to Rockland.
Take Out: Brandywine Creek State Park Rockland Parking Lot 25 Rockland Falls Rd, Wilmington, DE, Coordinates 39.797894993708624, -75.57322794334327. At the end of the trip, we will use a vehicle left at Rockland to take drivers back to the Museum to get their vehicles and get everybody and their boats back together.

Uncertain if you have a waiver? Log into the ACA Website, click “My Profile” and “Date Annual Waiver Expires”. If it is expired or has never been done click here to complete a waiver. Non-members are encouraged to join and complete the waiver before the trip. The $40 membership provides insurance for club events for the next year. The day of the trip ACA members without an annual waiver (bring your membership number) and non-members (pay $10 cash for a 1 day event membership) can complete a paper waiver.
Requirements:
Dress appropriately for cold weather paddling. There are many online sources of information on how to dress. Click here for a link to one such online source from Paddle Boston. Have a set of dry clothes with you in the boat.
