Now that many Pennsylvania rivers and creeks summer water levels are too low for a trip we turn to the Delaware with it’s good water levels. Paddle past the towering rock cliffs of the Delaware Water Gap and then a mix of fields, wooded hills and some development. For the class 1+/1 rapids boater, this section of the Middle Delaware has a good number of such rapids. The approximate time on the water for this 13.8 mile trip is 5.5 hours. The Delaware river is approximately 115 minutes from the Philadelphia Canoe Club.
Car shuttle details will be made via email the day before the trip. If possible we will meet at the take out, consolidate boats onto cars, leave some cars at the take out and drive to the put in. This will save everyone about an hour of driving in the morning.
Put in Kittatinny Beach Boat Ramp, off Route 209, River Rd, Columbia, NJ 07832. (Below the I-80 Bridge, Take the River Road exit off I-80). Coordinates: 40.969720090741866, -75.12794486815555. There are bathrooms at this location.
Take out at Belvidere Boat Ramp, 45 Front St, Belvidere, Coordinates 40.828170966664075, -75.08250228278858. There is a porta potty at this location. We will consolidate boats onto cars and drive together to the put in. At the end of the day we will use the cars that were left at Belvidere to take drivers and, if possible, their boats back to Kittatinny to get their vehicles.

Uncertain if you have a waiver? Log into the ACA Website, click “My Profile” and “Date Annual Waiver Expires”. If it is expired or has never been done click here to complete a waiver. Non-members are encouraged to join and complete the waiver before the trip. The $40 membership provides insurance for club events for the next year. The day of the trip ACA members without an annual waiver (bring your membership number) and non-members (pay $10 cash for a 1 day event membership) can complete a paper waiver.
Requirements:
Wear a bathing suit quick drying clothes suitable for getting wet. If the weather is cool dress in layers and have a set of dry clothes with you in the boat.
