Family Canoeing with Kids

• Family Canoeing with Kids! (Any age) 

Saturday Evening July 26 (5-8 pm)

All-Day Sunday, July 27, 2025 

(Registration includes canoe, paddles, lifejackets and instruction)

• A canoe is a great way to take the family (including smaller kids) onto an affordable weekend adventure. The Philadelphia area offers many opportunities to enjoy rivers and lakes, be active, out in nature, and share time as a family. This introductory class offered by the Philadelphia Canoe Club will get your family on the water in a safe and fun way.
  
  The program will begin on Saturday Evening 5-8 p.m. providing a meet and greet time with instructors and families and preparation for Sunday's trip in the NJ Pine Barrens. We will discuss safety on and off the water, what to wear, and things to bring on Sunday's trip. 
  
  Learn:

• Fundamental boat safety and proper use of gear

• How to pack a canoe, keep it dry, and in the boat

• How to get in and out of a canoe

• Confidently paddle a canoe using basic stokes and techniques. 

• Water reading and basic river features.

PCC will transport canoes and gear to the Pine Barrens on Sunday, July 27. Students are responsible for their own transportation.
