A beautiful remote run down the heart of the Wharton State Forest.  Start at Batsto Lake and paddle against the gentle current for several miles.  Take a break and eat a snack and turn around and paddle back to the canoe launch.  Optionally bring a lunch to eat at the end of the trip (estimate between 12 and 1 PM) and swim in the lake.  Time on the river including lunch is approximately 4 hours.  The Batsto River is approximately 70 minutes from the Philadelphia Canoe Club.

With the early finish visit the Batsto Visitor Center, a 2 minute drive from the put in on the other side of the lake.  It has a small but nice museum/display with great information about the pine barrens.
