This section of the Middle Susquehanna, just north of Harrisburg, has much to offer in history and sightseeing with several significant landmarks, islands abundant with birds and wildlife, and some class 1 and a class 2 rapid at the Dauphin Narrows. Due to these rapids, this itinerary is a trip best suited for paddlers with moderate experience. The trip passes points of interest including the Susquehanna’s Lady Liberty standing atop railroad bridge ruins, the world-renowned Rockville Bridge, and Fort Hunter Mansion and Park.. We will eat lunch along the way. The anticipated trip time for this 11 mile paddle is 5 hours. The Susquehanna is approximately 2 hours from the Philadelphia Canoe Club. Participants must be American Canoe Association (ACA) members and complete an online waiver. Uncertain if you have a waiver? Log into the ACA Website, click “My Profile” and “Date Annual Waiver Expires”. If it is expired or has never been done click here to complete it. Non-members are encouraged to join ACA and complete the waiver. The $40 membership provides insurance for club events for the next year. The day of the trip ACA members without an annual waiver (bring your membership number) and non-members (pay $10 cash for a 1 day event membership) can complete a paper waiver.
