The creek menders between fields, meadows and wooded bluffs and large rock outcroppings. The upper portion of the trip has an easy gradient. The second half of the trip is through a shallow gorge and the gradient, ripples and rapids increase. A helmet is recommended. I will have club helmets for anyone who needs one. The time on the water including lunch for this 12.1 mile paddle is approximately 4.5 hours. The Octoraro Creek is approximately 80 minutes from the Philadelphia Canoe Club
