Trip, East Branch Brandywine Creek, Moving Water, Class I

  • 04 Mar 2024
  • 10:30 AM
  • East Brandywine River, West Bradford Township, PA

Saturday’s rain will raise water levels to a good level to paddle the East Brandywine.  Paddle pleasant moving water with ripples and easy class I rapids in between.  Woodland, fields and the occasional rock formation border the river as it passes through park lands and farms.  We will stop for lunch along the way. Time on the water for this 8 mile paddle is approximately 3.5 hours.  The East Brandywine is approximately 50 minutes from the Philadelphia Canoe Club.

Dress appropriately for cool/cold weather paddling.  There are many online sources of information on how to dress.  Click here for a link to one such online source from Paddle Boston.

Participants must be American Canoe Association (ACA) members and complete an online waiver.  Uncertain if you have a waiver?  Log into the ACA Website, click “My Profile” and “Date Annual Waiver Expires”.  If it is expired or has never been done click here to complete it.  Non-members are encouraged to join ACA and complete the waiver.  The $40 membership provides insurance for club events for the next year.  The day of the trip ACA members without an annual waiver (bring your membership number) and non-members (pay $10 cash for a 1 day event membership) can complete a paper waiver.

For additional information/to go on this trip please contact the Trip Coordinator: Tom Moiani, tbmoiani@gmail.com.
