Trip, Brandywine River, Moving Water and Class 1 Rapids

  • 07 Feb 2024
  • 11:00 AM
  • Brandywine River, Chadds Ford, PA

The Wednesday weather forecast for sun and temperatures in the 40’s plus good water levels from January rains should make for a nice afternoon run.  Paddle pleasant moving water with ripples and easy class I rapids in between past attractive wooded hills and rolling countryside.  The time on the water for this 6-mile paddle is approximately 3 hours.  We will run the shuttle and eat lunch before we start the trip and take a break along the way.  The Brandywine River is approximately 50 minutes from the Philadelphia Canoe Club

Dress appropriately for cool/cold weather paddling.  There are many online sources of information on how to dress.  Click here for a link to one such online source from Paddle Boston.

Participants must be American Canoe Association (ACA) members and complete an online waiver.  Uncertain if you have a waiver?  Log into the ACA Website, click “My Profile” and “Date Annual Waiver Expires”.  If it is expired or has never been done click here to complete it.  Non-members are encouraged to join ACA and complete the waiver.  The $40 membership provides insurance for club events for the next year.  The day of the trip ACA members without an annual waiver (bring your membership number) and non-members (pay $10 cash for a 1 day event membership) can complete a paper waiver.

For additional information/to go on this trip please contact the Trip Coordinator: Tom Moiani, tbmoiani@gmail.com.
