  • Ottsville, PA

The Tohickon Creek flows out of Lake Nockamixon in beautiful Bucks County, PA. There is a recreational dam-release scheduled the weekend of March 16-17.  We will paddle 7 scenic miles from Nockamixon State Park to Ralph Stover State Park. The first 5 miles are class 1/1+. The last 2 miles are a somewhat more challenging but fun class 2/2-. (We take out before the class 3 section.) There is one portage of about 150 yards around a 4-ft. mill dam.  Dress appropriately for cool/cold weather paddling.  There are many online sources of information on how to dress.  Click here for a link to one such online source from Paddle Boston.  Kayakers must have a properly fitting spray skirt and paddling helmets (available for rental from the club).  We will take a break and eat lunch along the way.  At the end of the day we will celebrate our "adventure" with food & drink at a local watering hole (optional).  The Tohickon Creek is approximately 60 minutes from the Philadelphia Canoe Club.

This is a joint trip with the Mohawk Canoe Club and Outdoor Club of South Jersey.

Rain, inclement weather, or high or low water levels can cancel or reschedule the trip to Sunday, March 17th.

Participants must be American Canoe Association (ACA) members and complete an ACA online waiver.  ACA membership provides liability insurance for club events. Uncertain if you have a waiver?  Log into the ACA Website, click “My Profile” and “Date Annual Waiver Expires”.  If it is expired or has never been done click here to complete a waiver.  Non-ACA members are encouraged to join and complete an annual waiver before the trip.  The $40 membership provides insurance for Club events for the next year.  The day of the trip ACA members without an annual waiver (bring your ACA membership number) and non-ACA members can complete a paper waiver.  Non-ACA members must pay $10 in cash for a one-day event membership.
