Tohickon Release Weekend

  • 18 Mar 2023
  • 19 Mar 2023
  • 2 Walters Ln, Point Pleasant, PA 18950

The Tohickon is a jewel in the western PA whitewater scene. It offers some great play, scheduled releases twice yearly. It is a good Class III run that can be viewed as a stepping stone for novice and intermediates or as a fun play creek for intermediate and advanced paddlers. There is a fun play hole that serves up some great surfing and verticality to those that are patient. There are at least six challenging rapids in this 3.75 mile stretch that will keep anyone's attention. It's a fast run and our crew often does multiple laps. Wear warm gear (eg wet suit/drytop/drysuit) and dress for the swim.

The put-in is in Ralph Stover State park and the take out is on the shore of the Delaware where you can camp and spend the night. A nearby house hosts a party with music and drinks on Saturday.  There is a coffee shop close by, but restaurants are limited so bring some camping food.  Parking passes for the campground are $20 for the weekend and support the local volunteer fire department.
