    General Meetings for the Philadelphia Canoe Club are held at the clubhouse, Colony Castle, 4900 Ridge Avenue, every 3rd Monday of the month at 7:30 P/M., preceded by refreshments and snacks (bring something to share, if you can) at 6:30 p.m.The December meeting is the Annual Holiday Party (BYO beverage and a snack contribution). Meetings are open to the public - come on out, introduce yourself, meet our members, find out what's going on, learn about training courses, trips, and a lot more. We look forward to meeting you soon.

    4 Day Novice Kayak Training


    Traditionally this is PCC's most popular and most comprehensive whitewater class which will prepare the student to run class 2 whitewater in the student's choice of either kayak or canoe. Course content includes proper clothing, equipment review, strokes, boat control, safety, water reading, and good river judgement. Students must elect to attend Part One of the class but must take Part One before continuing to Part Two.

    Class will be begin with an evening dry session followed by a two-day weekend training class on the Schuylkill River. The second weekend will be a held on the Lehigh River in the Poconos with camping at Hickory Run Campgound, and a banquet dinner Saturday Evening.

    HOW TO DRESS: Be prepared to be wet all day. Clothing suggestion: Quick Drying Shorts and Shirt, Swimsuit, windbreaker or rainjacket, closed water shoes or sneakers (no sandals or barefeet). Additional information regarding dress will be discussed at the dry session.

    THINGS TO BRING: Classes on the water begin on Saturday at the Philadelphia Canoe Club, 4900 Ridge Avenue. Please bring a lunch. We will eat at the clubhouse on Saturday. Our kitchen has a refrigerator, stove and microwave. Change of clothes, towel, noseplugs (may make you more comfortable), strap to secure glasses, sunblock, snacks and drinking water in unbreakable bottle. You may use the shower at the conclusion of the day.

    (Weekend 2) Camping Trip to Lehigh River, White Haven, Pennsylvania 

    (We will camp at Hickory Run State Park on Friday and Saturday, your instructor will provide you with the details for this trip).

    COST: Adults: $200  --  Minors (12-18 years old): $100 -- PCC Members $100 (Early Registration: 20% Discount until April 28, 2017).

    (Price includes boat, paddle, lifejacket, helmet, camping fee and banquet dinner).

    4 Day Novice Canoe Training

    This canoeing course may be taken either solo or tandem. You will learn about equipment, boat control, water reading, safety and good river judgement. 

    You may choose to take Part 1 of the class but must take Part 1 before taking Part 2.

    This clinic is designed for kayakers who are capable on class III, have a reliable roll and are looking to improve their skills in order to progress to harder whitewater.  We will teach advanced river navigation techniques, boofing, surfing, running slots, dealing with rocks and other skills.  The instructors, Joe Cunningham and Todd Zielinski, are the only level 5 certified ACA instructors in the state of PA!

    One Day Intro to Whitewater Canoeing. Class will begin on flatwater with an introduction to equipment, strokes, boat control and safety. Students will progress to level 1-2 whitewater in the afternoon to practice applying the skills learned in the morning session.
